Avoidance is Key

The core of our training starts with Prevention & Avoidance. This means always being aware of your surroundings and, more importantly, knowing when to remove yourself from potential threats. Recognising danger early can be as crucial as any physical technique we teach, because the safest fight is the one you never have to engage in.

The Power of Voice

Using your voice effectively can be a powerful deterrent to attackers and a beacon of warning to others. Here’s what to do:

  • Be loud and clear: Shout specific warnings such as "knife," "stay back!," or "danger."
  • Point out the danger: While alerting others, point towards the attacker so everyone knows where the threat is coming from. This helps prevent confusion and directs attention appropriately.
  • Direct others: Use your voice not only to alert others but also to direct them towards safety. This might include shouting commands like "exit here" or "call the police."

Engaging Only When Necessary

At Total Krav Maga, we teach techniques specifically designed to counter armed attacks. These techniques are taught with the understanding that they are used solely as a last resort:

  • Distraction tactics: We train our members in how to distract an attacker if there are absolutely no other options available and the threat is imminent.
  • Control and neutralise: Techniques focus on how to control the attacker’s weapon-bearing limb and neutralise the threat quickly and efficiently.

Join us for a comprehensive knife defence tactics seminar led by Krav Maga Expert Level 4, Nick Maison. This seminar focuses on early-stage knife threats, offering strategies for compliance, prevention, and active defence.

Event Details:

During this three-hour seminar, you will:

  • Learn practical solutions to basic knife threats that occur early in the timeline of an attack.
  • Practice compliance methods to manage situations where fighting may not be necessary.
  • Engage in prevention techniques to avoid escalation.
  • Train in fighting solutions for when engagement becomes unavoidable.

Safety Gear Required:

Participants are advised to wear MMA style shorts, Krav Maga trousers, or leggings, and a sports T-shirt (no vests). It’s strongly advised that you bring mouth guards, MMA gloves, forearm guards, and a groin protector to ensure your safety during the training.
